The College of Nursing Research Board is committed to producing scholarly undertakings, establishing a functional repository of evidence-based nursing researches, and promoting dissemination and utilization of interdisciplinary practice information among competent and compassionate nurse professionals in service of the church, the nation, and the global community.

PURPOSE OF THE BOARD
 
  1. Support the research needs of affiliated and non-affiliated student, faculty and other professional researchers;

  2. Supervise research-related activities of the UST College of Nursing; 

  3. Establish a research workforce directory;

  4. Implement research policies, processes, services, and guidelines;

  5. Increase student and faculty involvement in research endeavors;

  6. Enhance research linkages locally and internationally;

  7. Increase student and faculty research dissemination though presentations and publications; and,

  8. Publish a peer-reviewed journal at the UST College of Nursing.

Thomasian student and faculty researchers are some of the most prolific in the field. The College of Nursing welcomes academic researchers, graduate students, and members of the health professions industry
for collaborations.

OUR SERVICES

As a thrust of the Research Board, it offers an arsenal of research services to ensure high-quality researches. These research services, which can be availed by both affiliated student and faculty researchers, include the following:

Instrument or Tool Validation

Face validity, or the extent to which an instrument looks as it measures what it is supposed to measure, and content validity, the degree to which items in a tool adequately represents the content of the concept being measured (Polit et al., 2012), may be scrutinized through the assistance of experts.

Intervention Validation

For a specific intervention to be successful on a target population while avoiding or at least minimizing potential risks, certain technicalities must be assessed, refined, and modified. The Research Board – Research Services Committee may recommend and appoint faculty experts on the selected topic, area, or field needed by researchers.

Statistical Consultation and Services

These statistical services includes, but are not limited to the following: Statistical sample size computation or power analysis; Psychometric evaluation; Simple descriptive statistics; Bivariate inferential statistics; and Multivariate statistics.

Language Services

The Research Board also provides language services such as manuscript editing concerning construction, language semantics, and other language-related technicalities; intervention and tool translation; and intervention and tool back-translation.

Presentation Assistance

The Research Board has created a set of guidelines for the generation of PowerPoint presentations and posters to effectively communicate the study’s results. The Institutional Review Quality Assurance Committee also provides trainings and mock presentations to ensure high-quality delivery of the accepted researches.

Publication Assistance

Affiliated student and faculty researchers are highly encouraged to publish their studies in leading national and international journals, preferably in ISI journals. The Research Board – Publications Committee provides assistance to these researchers in their publication efforts by providing guidelines and templates. 

Information Dissemination

The Research Board, through the Networks and Promotions Committee, operates multi-media platforms to monitor and efficiently inform student and faculty researchers on news, updates, announcements, and research conference information both local and international.
